The Department of Biological Sciences invites applications for a tenure stream position in Comparative Vertebrate Physiology. The position will be at the rank of Assistant Professor and will begin on July 1, 2009. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in examining physiological adaptations of tetrapod vertebrates to their environment and placing these adaptations into an evolutionary and ecological context. Applicants must have a PhD and at least one year of postdoctoral experience. The successful candidate will be expected to establish a strong, externally funded research program and to supervise graduate students. The Department of Biological Sciences has significant strength in ecology, behavior and neuroscience and the successful candidate will ideally be able to interact with faculty within these disciplines and facilitate the enhancement of animal physiology within the department. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and be expected to contribute to undergraduate teaching of animal physiology (human or other), pathophysiology and/or anatomy. Salary to be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
