New Jersey, is an international science publisher based in Germany with more than 80 years experience of producing high-quality professional magazines, scientific journals, books and electronic media in Chemistry and Life Sciences.
Angewandte chemie together with its sister journals, offers an Editorial Trainee position (f/m).
We offer extensive training in scientific publishing in an attractive working environment. The candidate will gain on-the-job experience in many different aspects associated with the production of high-quality science journals, such as managing the scientific peer-review system of articles, editing and preparing manuscripts for content management, writing scientific news, development of journal content, coordination of freelance work as well as compiling marketing materials.
The training period is 12 months, after which adoption into a permanent position may be possible. You will receive focused, on-the job editorial training from experienced staff and will also be made familiar with the related areas of publishing, including production, marketing and finance. Your role will be working in a team with editors where you will enjoy day to day challenges and responsibilities.
Applicants should have the desire to contribute to the further development of the leading chemistry journal and should be self-motivated and innovative.
For our editorial department we are looking for candidates with an academic background and a broad education in the area of chemistry. As the work involves close ties to authors and scientific editors from all over the world, applicants should have an excellent command of the English language. Furthermore excellent organizational skills, diplomacy, and flexibility are needed. Accuracy and a keen eye for detail are also essential as well as very good knowledge of text and graphics PC programs. Previous publishing experience is not required but you should have good interpersonal and communication skills, good scientific judgment, and a strong commitment to the communication of science.
