The Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) for Polymers is part of the Australian Government’s program to promote collaborative research in high priority areas of science and engineering. It focuses on research to deliver the technically advanced polymeric materials and polymer engineering required to transform Australian industries and to establish and expand companies in emerging high-growth areas of the economy. 
The CRC invites applications for a post-doctoral researcher position based at the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation laboratories located in Sydney, NSW. The successful candidate will be involved in collaborative research conducted across research sites within the CRC. 
The successful candidate will play a key role in the development of materials and implementation of novel technologies for producing all solid state hybrid organic/inorganic photovoltaic devices. 
You will have a strong background in materials chemistry, with particular emphasis on the synthesis of interpenetrating organic/inorganic network heterojunctions based on materials such as titania. Experience in the production and characterisation of photovoltaic devices is desirable.

Two Year Term
ANSTO’s Radiopharmaceutical Research Institute (RRI) in partnership with the Cooperative Research Centre for Biomedical Imaging Development is conducting research in radiopharmaceutical development and related sciences for human applications in disease diagnosis and therapy.
We are looking for a recent graduate with expertise in synthetic chemistry to undertake research in the development of short lived radiopharmaceuticals for biological and clinical applications.
This role includes undertaking organic and radiochemical synthesis, operate automated synthetic modules, undertake analytical chemistry and prepare the necessary documentation to meet quality assurance guidelines. 
The successful applicant must have a degree in chemistry with relevant experience in organic/and or inorganic synthesis and chemical characterisation. Experience in radiosynthesis involving short lived radionuclides, automated synthesis and knowledge of ISO-9000, GMP, GLP would be an advantage but not essential.
Responsibilities will include engaging in the synthesis and radiosynthesis of novel radiopharmaceuticals, implementing and overseeing all quality control issues including the institute's quality assurance program and satisfying all necessary scientific and regulatory documentation.
Your appointment will be for 2 years at an initial salary of $69,441 ($72,358 from Jan 2010). To be eligible for engagement, applicants will require a medical and security assessment.

The Honours and Postgraduate Scholarship Program provides opportunities in science and engineering for outstanding graduates who enrol each year at Australian tertiary institutions.
Each year, the Program supports honours and postgraduate scholarships for students to work on a project relevant to one of ten priority research areas. Students are co-supervised by researchers in an Australian university and CSIRO. In 2010 the Program will support a number of new Honours Scholarships and PhD Scholarships.
Honours Scholarship are available to students enrolled full-time in an eligible Australian Higher Education Institution during the term of the scholarship and who hold (or expect to gain) a degree from a recognised University and expect to undertake an Honours year.
Top-up PhD Scholarships are available to PhD students who have gained (or expect to gain), first class honours or equivalent in relevant research areas. They must also expect to receive an Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) or equivalent scholarship commencing in the year of the scholarship. Full scholarships are also available in certain circumstances.
