Development and/or optimization of virus upstream processes (from cell thaw through viral harvest). This includes designing experiments, analyzing data, developing batch records, SOPs and protocols, and writing and/or reviewing technical reports. This may also include the evaluation of alternative methodologies and/or materials for various process operations and steps.
Serve as a member of the team responsible for the technology transfer of processes to large scale manufacturing sites. This includes writing and/or review of batch records and contract manufacturing staff, and providing the necessary technical support to the contract manufacturer once the process has been transferred and cGMP manufacturing has begun.
Maintenance of upstream process development equipment including bioreactors, cell counters, metabolite analyzers, pumps and gauges.
Maintenance of inventory for commonly used lab supplies.
Other responsibilities as required by the department or team.

The Department of Neuroscience (www.neurosci.tufts.edu) at Tufts University School of Medicine is expanding by adding tenure-track faculty positions. Positions are available at Assistant, Associate and Full Professor levels. The department will build on its core strengths and focus on the study of synapses, disorders of the nervous system and neuron-glial interactions. We are seeking candidates who use innovative approaches to investigate problems that cross levels of investigation from molecular and cellular to systems and/or behavioral neuroscience. Candidates using molecular, genetic, electrophysiological and/or imaging methodologies to study neurons, synapses and networks are particularly encouraged to apply. Jackson Foundation (HJF) is seeking an Laboratory / Research Technician for the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, School of Medicine located at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) in Bethesda, MD. HJF provides administrative and management support to USUHS. 
The Department of Microbiology and Immunology provides a challenging environment for students seeking to participate in research of the highest caliber. A wide range of interests is represented in the Department, including both basic and medical aspects of Bacteriology, Genetics, Virology, Immunology, Parasitology, Infectious Diseases, and Pathogenic Mechanisms.
Responsibilities:
1. Establishment and maintenance of the lifecycle of Litomosoides sigmodontis, a parasitic roundworm of rodents. This life cycle includes both mammalian and insect hosts.
2. Production of monoclonal antibodies by creation of hybridomas.
3. Assistance in procurement of infective-stage larvae and quantification of both adult parasitic worms and circulating larval forms in infected mice.
4. Performance of various assays and procedures including inoculation of mice with parasitic worms or worm antigens, murine blood draws and glucose measurements, cell culture, and ELISA. 
5.Maintenance, calibration, operation and quality control of laboratory instruments. Responsibility for maintaining the cleanliness of the laboratory and organization of laboratory freezers and refrigerators.
6. Maintenance of the laboratory chemical inventory. 
7. Detailed laboratory notes for specific research projects
8. Order routine supplies and maintain order log.
9. Assist research personnel in laboratory.
10. Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Technical knowledge of scientific disciplines; knowledge of and skill in tissue culture technique and handling biological hazards and their safe use and disposal;
Minimum Education/Training Requirements: High School Graduate
Minimum Experience: 0 to 2 years experience
Physical Capabilities: handles variety of chemicals; requires long periods of standing
Work Environment: laboratory environment

UAB ranks in the top ten for NIH funding to Departments of Pathology and was recently ranked third in the nation for faculty scholarly productivity in the discipline of Pathology.
