The Medical Faculty of Ulm University has an international reputation for clinical excellence and research. Its academic profile includes clinical neuroscience, aging and stem cell research, cardiovascular and regenerative medicine. There is a close collaboration with the Bezirkskrankenhaus Günzburg, a regional medical center, where there are already two other departments of the medical faculty (psychiatry II, neurosurgery) attached to the hospital.
The person appointed to the position will be head of the University Department for Forensic Psychiatry and Psychotherapy and, at the same time, medical director of the respective clinical services of the Bezirkskrankenhaus Günzburg (90 in-patients plus forensic out-patient service).
The position involves the management of the clinical services of forensic psychiatry and psychotherapy, teaching medical students (at the Medical Faculty of Ulm University) as well as students of psychology (at the Faculty of Engineering and Informatics of Ulm University), and research responsibilities.
Applicants should provide a record of scientific excellence in the field of forensic psychiatry and psychotherapy, a specified research concept, particularly in the field of forensic psychiatric treatment and health services research.
Application requirements include a university degree in medicine and a board certification in psychiatry and psychotherapy, a doctorate in medicine, experience in academic teaching, in medicolegal expertise and the clinical field of forensic psychiatry / medium and high secure services.
A separate contract will be signed with the Bezirkskliniken Schwaben concerning patient care.
