The focus of the post is to develop an energy storage system based on the use of cryogen as an energy carrier. The work will involve construction and testing of a lab-scale energy storage system, and theoretical analyses and modeling of the system. 
With at least a 2:1 degree (or equivalent) in Cryogenic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Thermophyics or other related science and engineering disciplines you will also have a PhD (or be close to completing) in one of the above disciplines. Preference will be given to those with a solid background, strong experimental skills and demonstrable track record in at least three of the following: 
Engineering thermodynamics
Heat transfer
Fluid mechanics
Cryogenic engineering
Refrigeration

A global group providing engineered monitoring packages and applications expertise, mainly to the Oil and Gas Industry has an immediate requirement for a Projects Engineer. 
Based in Worthing, West Sussex the Projects Engineer is a key role in the Order Realisation function of the company's Common Products Group and a member of the Contract Review and Kick-off team for new orders ensuring effective fulfilment of direct customer requirements. Working within the Sub Sea team with a strong Mechanical engineering background and a talent for the interpretation of complex engineering specifications and standards this role is critical to the sub sea product realisation process. 
Key Objectives and Responsibilities:-
* Provide technical support and expertise to R&amp;D and product improvement programmes. 
* Initiate, manage and direct sub sea mechanical development projects.
* Identify areas for improvement in existing mechanical design and implement effective solutions.
* Design and implement effective qualification programmes to meet industry and customer specific requirements.
* Responsible for obtaining and interpreting complex engineering and material specifications/standards to ensure products conform to relevant standards.
* Assist and provide technical support to Operations on mechanical, process and metallurgy issues
* Responsible for in-house procedures relating to quality assurance, testing, handling and mechanical integration for sub sea spools and probes.
* Establish and maintain systems for controlling documentation and engineering changes relating to mechanical design and metal processing/forming activities.
* Support Supply Chain team in the selection and approval of key sub sea vendors of raw materials, mechanical assemblies and process such as welding, metal forming, painting and coating.
* Support Supply Chain team in auditing, driving corrective action, and managing sub sea vendors. 
Qualifications &amp; Experience
* Excellent working knowledge of CRA (Corrosion Resistant Alloys) metallurgy, welding and processing, forming and machining.
* Up to date knowledge of materials and process standards as applicable to stainless steels 
* CAD proficient (preferably AutoCad and/or Solidworks)
* Chartered Engineer status preferable
* Should have experience of a projects engineering business with "hands-on" approach
* Experience within a regulated industry or an industry that demands compliance to detailed specifications and standards
* Excellent Numeric, Analytical &amp; Literacy skills
* Excellent Word and Excel skills
* Experience within the Oil &amp; Gas industry is desirable
Salary up to £45k
