The National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) seeks talented individuals to conduct original research in areas broadly related to atmospheric science or other research areas at NCAR, including solar and space physics, oceanography, hydrology, energy and economics, integrated assessment, land use, new technologies, turbulence, applied mathematics and computational science, and to document that research in publications. These individuals will seek to broaden their understanding by interacting widely with scientists and other postdoctoral researchers at NCAR.
NCAR intends to hire as many as ten new Postdoctoral Fellows. The Recruitment period will end on Monday, January 5, 2010.
ASP Postdoc positions are for one year with an opportunity to renew for a second year. Successful applicants will join the appropriate laboratories, divisions, or institutes at NCAR that best match their interests. Appointments may begin as early as June 2010.
Applicants who will not be available to begin work until after January 2011 should wait until the 2010 recruitment period, which will begin in November 2010.
Requires a Ph.D. degree in atmospheric science or a related field. The fellow should not be more than four years beyond the Ph.D. degree at the start of the appointment.
Must have ability to exercise considerable independent judgment and creativity. Requires ability to conduct research with minimal supervision and strong communication skills.
