The Geology and Geophysics Department invites applications for two full-time tenure-track positions at the Assistant, Associate or Senior Scientist level. These positions are eligible for benefits. The first position is in the area of metamorphic petrology (fluid-rock interaction) to pursue new research directions in fluid-rock interactions and chemical fluxes between the crust, mantle and oceans, dehydration/serpentinization processes, kinetic and thermodynamic modeling of metamorphic processes and elucidating the linkages between fluid flow, alteration deformation and the chemical fluxes across subduction zones. 
The candidate would bridge research between geochemists and geophysicists studying the global geochemical cycle from midocean ridges to
subduction zones, and the geochemical evolution of the Earth. The second position is in the area of isotope geochemistry. The successful candidate would apply state-of-the-art technologies of isotope geochemistry to a range of problems, including timescales of geologic processes, global geochemical cycles, mantle dynamics and evolution, biogeochemical cycles, and geochemical kinetics.
Successful candidates are expected to develop and maintain their own independent externally funded research program. You will be responsible for client management and retention with an ability to provide regulatory advice and contribute to submission strategy. You may act as scientific mentor to provide regulatory advice and input into study design to other members of staff including Study Directors. Other duties and responsibilities are:
• To be familiar with current EU Regulations and guidance relating to chemicals (including REACH), biocide, agrochemical and pharmaceutical registration in Europe.
• To prepare agreed sections of chemical, agrochemical and biocide submissions for approval to meet regulatory and client requirements. 
• To attend client meetings to discuss study requirements or strategy for obtaining regulatory approval.
• To develop working relationships with EU officials, particularly in the ECHA and the Chemicals Regulation Directorate.
• To assist in developing business for Environmental Sciences by representing the company at meetings/conferences, presenting scientific papers, and involvement in the general promotion of company capabilities.
The skills and educational/experience-related criteria associated with this position are as follows:
• Typically be educated to honours degree qualification in Biology, Chemistry or other related science subject.
• You will have excellent written communications skills and strong planning/organisational skills are fundamental to the role, as well as skills in data interpretation. 
• Environmental Fate modelling experience is particularly desirable but not essential.
• Must have prior experience of a technical role in the European plant protection/chemicals or other related industry. 
• Some prior experience of regulatory/registration experience would be preferable.
