As a member of Vaccine Research East– Early Development group, the qualified candidate will develop and qualify analytical methods (in line with ICH guidelines for the characterization and release of biopolymers (polysaccharides, proteins, glycoconjugates and their intermediates) as drug substance or in formulated drug product, and transfers to support early stage of vaccine development. The candidate will work across multiple analytical functions and cross functional project teams. The candidate will also serve as technical counsel to senior leadership and is expected to train and mentor other scientists.
- The qualified candidate is expected to develop assays required for the testing of biopolymers (polysaccharides, proteins, glycoconjugates and their intermediates) as drug substance or in formulated drug product, perform assay qualifications and transfer to support early stage of Vaccine Development.
- The candidate is expected to design and execute analytical method development and qualification strategies for Vaccine samples with a high degree of independence.
- The candidate is expected to design and perform in process assays to support process development for polysaccharide expression, purification, monitoring conjugation processes and glycoconjugate purification.
- The candidate is expected to design and develop analytical assays for testing the stability of biopolymers (polysaccharides, proteins and glycoconjugates).
- The candidate should have considerable knowledge and experience in the development and qualification of analytical assays for polysaccharides, proteins and conjugates’ using LC-MS, GC MS, MS, NMR, HPLC, MALS/AFFF and HPAEC PAD. The candidate must have a solid understanding in HPLC theory and applications as applied to analytical method development. Familiarization with common modes of HPLC separation such as, RP-HPLC, IEX-HPLC, SEC, and column chemistry for protein separation is also required.
- The candidate is expected to author SOPs, reports, technical documents, generate appropriate documentation for transfer of the methods,
- As required, the candidate is expected to contribute portions of patents, regulatory documents or manuscripts.
- The candidate will also train staff in specific technologies and supervise their work as needed.
- The candidate is expected to maintain a safe and productive work environment, keep an accurate and reliable laboratory notebooks and maintain broad overview of relevant scientific literature
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry or related field + 2-years experience.
- Industrial experience in assay development is desirable.
- The candidate should have expertise in characterization of complex carbohydrates and glycoconjugates.
- Extensive experience in the development of novel protocols and methods using the following technologies, LC-MS, GC-MS and HPLC.
- Publications are a must.
- Experience in training analytical scientists in a team environment.
- Experience with ICH guidelines is desirable.
