We are currently looking for an experienced immunoassay scientist to join a leading contract research organisation in Cambridgeshire.
The purpose of a senior study scientist is to be proficient and perform analysis of samples, development and validation of studies within the department of Immunoassay. They will also contribution towards reporting of data. A senior study scientist will achieve proficiency in the duties of a Study Director.
Participate in general laboratory house keeping and proactively identify and resolve issues arising.
To be responsible for the use and maintenance of laboratory equipment and proactively identify and resolve issues arising.
Be proficient in the conduct of sample handling studies.
Be proficient in the conduct of development and validation studies. Be responsible for experimental implementation within the study protocol remit.
Ensure Study director is kept informed of study progress.
To be competent in using at least two immunoassay platform and be receiving training in additional methodology.
To have an excellent understanding of the principles of immunoassay and the platforms undertaken within the department.
To be proficient and proactive in trouble shooting and problem solving of methods. Identify potential problems and proactively suggest solutions.
To be competent in study/laboratory-related activities, checks and record keeping.
Be proficient in the use of on-line data capture systems and office computers.
To perform accurate documentation and presentation of data.

Be trained in the role of Study Director, Principle Investigator, Analytical Project Manager or Responsible Scientist including:
To be trained in effective communication with the Sponsor and/or Study Director at all stages of the study from enquiry to study finalisation.
To be trained to effectively communicate with analysts at all stages of the study including holding study start-up and study close out meetings.
To prepare and review authorised methods.
To be trained in the preparation of study protocols.
To review and interpret data on completion of analysis and review final study standard, QC and sample data.
Review laboratory study files and proformas in a timely manner.
To be trained to prepare reports for QA review and address comments according to timelines
To be trained to prepare reports for distribution to Sponsors and/or the Study Director.
To be trained in the study archiving procedure on report finalisation.
Maintain an up to date knowledge of scientific developments.
To perform all studies within the guidelines of the study protocols, SOPs and in compliance with the principles of GLP/GCP.
To work safely and become familiar with the divisional safety procedures and safe working practices within the laboratory and adhere to HASAWA and COSHH
To write and review SOPs when requested
Supervising junior members of staff in general laboratory duties, method development and validation and sample analysis.
To mentor junior members of staff to become proficient in immunoassay techniques and departmental procedures.
To communicate with internal customers as necessary
Receive training and gain experience in communication with external customers.
