The Senior Scientist will perform and supervise in vivo efficacy work in cancer models in the Preclinical Pharmacology department, supervising a team of 2 senior level animal researchers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Organize, track and report on the research efforts of 2 researchers performing animal research to evaluate ImClone Systems drugs and drug candidates
2. Perform efficacy studies in animal models, complete reports for all studies and maintain detailed notebook for all experimental work
3. Interact with clinical research personnel, coworkers and project leaders to complete goals with definitive studies
4. Present research results at project team meetings and research seminars
5. Oversee the establishment of, and work according to, SOPs and IACUC protocols. Serve on the IACUC committee as requested.
6. When appropriate, publish research in peer-reviewed journals, present results at scientific meetings, and file for patents
7. Oversee the efficiency and career development of reports
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS, EXPERIENCE
1. MD, Ph.D. or equivalent
2. At least 7 years hands on experience developing and utilizing animal models of disease
3. At least 5 years work experience in a pharmaceutical setting
4. Experience supervising at least 1 technician to accomplish animal research related goals
5. Hands on experience running oncology models a plus
