Summary

An exciting, brand new opportunity for an experienced Preclinical Scientist with a background in Haematology / Biomedical Science / Toxicology or other relevant discipline. You must be based in the Cambridge, have your own transport and be prepared to work Tuesday – Saturday.

The Company

A brand new Clinical Trials lab has recently opened in Fordham, near Ely in Cambridgeshire, as the European arm of a major American preclinical research, toxicology testing and life insurance risk analysis company. The UK lab consists of a General Manager, a Sales Manager and a Lab Technician, and you will be joining as a Senior Lab Analyst with ultimate responsibility for sample analysis and assisting in the growth of the company over the next few years.

The Role

Using your technical expertise to the full, you will perform sample analysis on Modular, Centaur, Advia 120, Elecsys, CA-1500 and other haematology / immunoassay / blood coagulation analysers, to report back to the head office in Kansas, USA.

You will supervise the work of the other Lab Technician and work alongside QA / QC teams to ensure that all methods are correctly maintained, validated and run within strict SOPs and Health & Safety guidelines. Using the in-house LIMS system, you will upload test data and prepare detailed reports for submission to various agencies, clients and authorities. You will also take charge of lab supplies, ordering and maintaining reagents and ensuring optimum levels of in-house materials.

The long-term prospects of this role are very exciting indeed because the company is planning to expand considerably over the next few years. Please note that for the first few months you will be paid by SLS Services, the recruitment agency, until the American company has completed its setup of a fully-registered UK company, complete with generous benefits package.

Experience

It is absolutely essential that you have experience of running a variety of Immunoassays and Blood analysis, using Modular, Centaur, Advia 120, Elecsys and CA-1500 instruments. If you have used some but not all of these 5 instruments then we will still be keen to hear from you.

You must have your own transport and experience of either running a lab or working as a Senior Analyst in a research, biomedical or preclinical testing laboratory.
