Research Statistician

The General Practice Research Database (GPRD) is the largest validated Primary Care database in the UK. It is a crucial resource in the development of innovations in the field of drug safety assessment. Using GPRD in conjunction with other European database resources we are working towards developing new methodologies to investigate the safety of medicines. Positioned within the MHRA, the independently run GPRD unit is collaborating in the pan European ‘PROTECT’ programme.

You will be responsible for delivering epidemiological studies over a three year period. GPRD and other data resources across the UK and Europe will be used in this context and will involve managing and analysing data and also taking responsibility for strategy, design, organisation and timescales. Presenting research findings at conferences will be a key part of your role.

With a Doctorate level qualification, you will have extensive experience in epidemiological and statistical research and also project and people management. You will require a refined, analytical approach to problems with the ability to understand and resolve complex issues. Your ability to manage the project with minimal direction and excellent decision-making skills and the ability to direct and manage your own workload will be important.
