Production Chemist

SRG are proud to offer the opportunity for a Production Chemist to join one the UK's most exciting Biopharmaceutical organisations. Our client offers technologies for large-scale drug purification, drug development, proteomics (the study of proteins), and the elimination of pathogens. With customers worldwide they are in the process of increasing the production capacity to cope with order demand and therefore require a skilled production chemist with an excellent track record in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals.
The role will be based at our client's production facilities on the Isle of Mann and will involve the successful candidate relocating to this tranquil yet active island. Our client's Isle of Mann operations comprises of a friendly team who thrive on the work/life balance the island offers, perfect for families and professionals alike.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Manufacture of established and development products:
· Responsible for batch manufacture of intermediate and final ligands and Chromatographic resins or other products as required.
· Adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Production Methods.
· Upkeep of accurate production records and notebooks
· Conduct of certain on-line quality control assays
· Analysis of manufacturing data, early identification of anomalies and problems.
· Maintenance of manufacturing equipment and work areas in clean and serviceable state.
· To carry out other work in this area as and when directed by the Production Manager.

Process Development and Optimisation:
· Responsible for conducting process optimisation studies on new and existing processes (both intermediates and final products) to ensure optimum utilisation of resources and maximisation of yields.
· Responsible for participating in the decision making processes within the process development projects.

The successful candidate will hold a degree in Chemistry or equivalent in addition to extensive practical production chemist experience in a highly regulated pharmaceutical environment. Applicants will also ideally possess experience of process development chemistry.
