Postdoctoral researcher positions – The Ohio State University Center for RNA Biology
Several NIH-funded postdoctoral positions are available in the Schoenberg lab to study fundamental aspects of mRNA metabolism and translational control.
• One position will investigate the dynamics of mRNA re-capping as it relates to microRNA silencing and translational control (MCB 29: 2155-2167, 2009; Trends Biochem. Sci. 34: 435-442, 2009).
• One position will investigate the relationship between tyrosine kinase signaling, mRNA decay and cell motility (Mol. Cell 25: 779-787, 2007; RNA 15: 576-587, 2009).
• One or two positions will investigate the role of a premature termination codon in activating endonuclease-mediated mRNA decay (PNAS 99: 12741-12746; RNA 9: 1157-1167, 2003).

Candidates for each of these positions should have experience with mammalian cell culture, protein biochemistry and RNA molecular biology as evidenced by publications in major journals. For work on microRNA silencing and mRNA re-capping preference will be given to individuals with a strong background in bioinformatics and experience using deep sequencing to analyze gene expression on a transcriptome-wide basis.
