ANSTO’s Radiopharmaceutical Research Institute (RRI) in partnership with the Cooperative Research Centre for Biomedical Imaging Development is conducting research in radiopharmaceutical development and related sciences for human applications in disease diagnosis and therapy.

We are looking for a recent graduate with expertise in synthetic chemistry to undertake research in the development of short lived radiopharmaceuticals for biological and clinical applications.

This role includes undertaking organic and radiochemical synthesis, operate automated synthetic modules, undertake analytical chemistry and prepare the necessary documentation to meet quality assurance guidelines.

The successful applicant must have a degree in chemistry with relevant experience in organic/and or inorganic synthesis and chemical characterisation. Experience in radiosynthesis involving short lived radionuclides, automated synthesis and knowledge of ISO-9000, GMP, GLP would be an advantage but not essential.

Responsibilities will include engaging in the synthesis and radiosynthesis of novel radiopharmaceuticals, implementing and overseeing all quality control issues including the institute's quality assurance program and satisfying all necessary scientific and regulatory documentation.

Your appointment will be for 2 years at an initial salary of $69,441 ($72,358 from Jan 2010). To be eligible for engagement, applicants will require a medical and security assessment.
