The Jenner Institute

A post-doctoral or experienced industrial scientist is required to join Prof. Adrian Hill’s vaccine development group at The Jenner Institute, University of Oxford. The EU-funded project is a collaboration with the University’s Clinical BioManufacturing Facility (CBF) and aims to develop widely accessible cell lines suitable for large-scale clinical manufacture of adenovirus and poxvirus-based recombinant vaccines.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable expertise in cell and virus culture and an in-depth understanding of cell line generation and propagation. Applicants must have a Ph. D. (or submitted thesis) in a relevant discipline, or equivalent prior employment in the biopharmaceuticals industry. Experience in molecular biology, cell line derivation or primary cell culture would be an advantage. The post-holder will need to ensure a smooth transition from the academic laboratory into the highly regulated manufacturing environment of the CBF. Experience of working in regulated GLP or GMP laboratories is desirable, and an ability to work without supervision and to combine a structured and organised approach with enthusiasm and intelligence will be important. Excellent communication skills and an ability to develop effective working relationships with a wide range of staff from all levels and backgrounds (academic or industrial) are essential.
