We are searching for a Polymer Scientist to join our R&D facility located in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.

The successful applicant will play a key role in providing polymer science, material science and engineering expertise and participate in a newly established R&D project involving development of advanced material for imaging and other novel film applications. We are looking for highly motivated individual with solid laboratory/research skill with innovative thinking.

This is a full-time, regular position, not a consulting opportunity. Carestream Health offers very competitive compensation including excellent employee benefits and a great work environment. Required Education/Experience:

• The position requires a Ph.D in Polymer Science, Chemistry, Material Science, or Chemical Engineering.
• Extensive background in polymer chemistry, polymer physics with good understanding of polymer applications and processing such as solution coating, thermal extrusion, UV or EM curing.
• Industry R&D experience and knowledge of nanomaterial sciences or surface chemistry/physics will be a plus.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and computer)
• Ability to work in multifunctional/departmental teams
• Authorized to work in the United States
Responsibilities Include:

• Application of fundamental chemical and molecular understanding to conduct
synthesis, purification, and processing of polymeric materials.
• Design and development of new advanced material utilizing polymeric material or
polymer composites with unique chemical and physical property and exceptional
environmental stability.
• New product scale up activities including process variable study, process optimization, and equipment design and development.
• Literature and patent search/scouting of new advances and new technology of
new polymer/application and actively identify intellectual property and patentable
inventions.
