It's rare that a commercial corporation can stand up and announce new science that will transform an industry.

Yet our momentous breakthrough doesn't stop there: it has profound implications for the generation of energy on the global scale - sustainable, low-carbon energy that can be produced from a broad range of raw materials, including recycled waste.

We are seeking a molecular biologist to contribute to our productive and growing team of scientists looking to exploit the abilities of thermophilic bacteria for the production of second-generation biofuels from waste feedstocks.

This is an exciting and varied role in which you will design and undertake experiments to develop and optimise novel thermophilic bacteria using classical adaptation/ mutagenesis techniques as well as leading-edge molecular genetics approaches. The role requires a creative thinker who can apply their knowledge and experience of strain development and improvement in an innovative and practical way. Also important is the ability to work flexibly in cross- functional teams.

You will be a Ph.D. with research experience in either an academic or industrial environment. Importantly you will have the desire and enthusiasm to contribute to this growing area of science in an applied industrial setting. This position will challenge the successful applicant and will require flexibility, perseverance, and technical ability.

The Role is based in Guildford, Surrey and a driving license / own transport is desirable.

Salary up to £40k in line with experience + bonus & benefits.
