CAREER OPPORTUNITY IN MAINE for an entrepreneurial, creative molecular epidemiologist to build new cancer research program
The Maine Institute for Human Genetics & Health has an exciting opening in its new fully equipped research facility for a Research Scientist (PhD or equivalent professional degree).
Opportunities:
· Unique opportunity to create an innovative cancer research program.
· Supervise and build NCI & ISBER Best Practices BioGeoBank, a repository that links human biospecimens with patient data and family pedigrees to geographic information systems (GIS) archiving environment exposures to radon, arsenic and dioxin.
· Build a collaborative, interactive program with other multidisciplinary Institute scientists to obtain significant research funding through federal grants and sponsored research contracts.
· Work closely with Executive Director to initiate community research programs.
Experience & Educational Requirements:
· MD/PhD or equivalent with 5 or more years of work experience since doctoral degree
· Graduate training and demonstrated expertise in human genetics and cancer epidemiology, preferably relevant to lung and breast cancers
· Productive, entrepreneurial, curious, creative scientist, as demonstrated by at least 8 or more first authored publications and significant prior research funding
