The primary mission of the PMI Research & Development Centre is to research and develop new products which may have the potential to reduce the risks of tobacco related diseases. Furthermore, the PMI R&D team is is working to discover alternative uses for the tobacco plant.

To strengthen the department of Tobacco Platform Development in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, we are looking for a:

Data Manager

THE POSITION

The Data Manager will increase the implementation speed, the quality and the value of the Tobacco Molecular Farming platform by combining technical expertise and service orientation through the design and management of a data management system.


Main accountabilities:

• Maximize the appropriate use of information technology, data modeling and analysis techniques to support the implementation of the Tobacco Molecular Farming (TMF) platform
• Develop Quality by Design actionable plan to implement and maintain data management tools and capabilities
• Liaise between Computational Science & Bioinformatics and Tobacco Technology for development and maintenance of LIMS and ELN applications
• Manage the execution of the plans for the implementation of the TMF data management system
• Ensure the completeness, accuracy, consistency and traceability of all data so that they meet the quality standards in line with regulatory requirements
• Monitor and report progress of data management, integration and analysis
• Ensure systematic application of six sigma principles for data driven process development
• Interpret, evaluate, and interrelate research data derived from TMF to guide research efforts in TAT aimed at identifying best material, practices and processes for successful molecular farming
• Act as technical leader to Senior Management

THE PERSON

Education:

• PhD in Life Sciences, Chemistry or Physics with post-doctoral and work experience

Work experience:

• Proven relevant work experience in the field of life sciences information management, more specifically informatics, data analysis and management
• Track record of several years of cutting edge research in this field as well as data analysis, information and knowledge management

Additional skills and knowledge:

• Expert and extensive knowledge of advanced principles, theories and concepts in the field of information and knowledge management, design of experiment and data analysis
• Key strengths: scientific creativity and passion for discovery, anticipation, risk taking, sense of purpose and people management
• Fluent English
