Our Client, the SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics, is an academic non-profit foundation whose mission is to provide core bioinformatics resources to the national and international life science research community and to coordinate the field of bioinformatics in Switzerland.

To develop and reinforce its corporate image as well as its internal and external communications, the SIB is looking for a:

COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER

This position, located in Lausanne, will report directly to the SIB Executive Director. Its principle role will be the organization, planning and implementation of the internal and external communication of the SIB, as well as the further development of the communication strategy.

The main responsibilities are:

• Lead and coordinate global communication concept and strategy
• Participate in the diffusion of the SIB company culture
• Write/translate internal and external documentation
• Ensure coordination of communication activities within the SIB
• Release information to the media, related political departments and partner Institutions
• Develop and formalize contacts with Swiss and foreign journalists
• Establish and maintain press files
• Coordinate information flow among SIB groups, SIB partners and SIB management
• Define and supervise SIB institutional website(s)
• Organize punctual events


The position requires:

• University degree in communication
• Knowledge or at least strong interest in the scientific environment
• Proven experience in similar position
• Proven experience in writing scientific articles aimed at a general public, an asset
• Previous experience working with the media
• Perfect spoken and written English, fluent French (German an asset)
• Swiss nationality or valid work permit
