ASSISTANT PROFESSOR in INORGANIC CHEMISTRY
The Department of Physical & Environmental Sciences at the University of Toronto Scarborough invites applications for a tenure stream position in the general areas of bioinorganic chemistry or inorganic chemistry related to the “greening” of chemical processes or energy generation at the rank of Assistant Professor commencing July 1, 2010. The successful candidate will be expected to establish a strong, externally funded research program in the general area of inorganic chemistry and to play an active role in our undergraduate and graduate programs. The positions will have undergraduate teaching responsibilities in inorganic chemistry.
Applicants must hold a PhD in Chemistry and have post-doctoral experience and have demonstrated excellence in teaching and research. We are particularly interested in applicants with interdisciplinary research interests that complement and enhance the existing strengths in the Department in the areas of environmental science and biological chemistry.

The Department has a newly established, state-of-the-art instrument facility, houses the Environmental NMR Centre and offers the opportunity for research collaboration with faculty in the physical, environmental and biological sciences. The successful candidate will work with our existing faculty to reshape and strengthen our growing undergraduate programs in chemistry. As a researcher, the successful candidate will establish a creative, high-impact research program based on external funding from NSERC and other agencies. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Applicants are asked to send a letter of application including a current curriculum vitae, a concise research proposal (NSERC Discovery Grant format preferred, 5 pages), and a short teaching dossier that outlines the candidate’s teaching experience, subject area of teaching expertise, and goals for course delivery and curriculum development.
